Charlotte Engelhaart

Charlotte Engelhaart

Charlotte Engelhaart is best known for her work as a painter, though her practice also encompasses video installations. She studied at the National Academy of Fine Art in Bergen, Norway, from 1996 to 2001, and is a member of several professional artist organizations, including NBK, UKS, and LNM. Her work has been exhibited widely in galleries and museums throughout Norway and across Europe, and is held in numerous public, corporate, and private collections. Engelhaart lives and works in Nesodden, just outside Oslo. Her artistic exploration centers on how the act of painting can illuminate aspects of human identity, nature, and history. Her painterly expression exists in the space between figuration and abstraction. The dialogue between the human form and the complexity of the painted surface has served as a conceptual foundation throughout much of her career.
